Notice to all teams who qualified to the finals of the Dance Competition
The first submission of all dance routines by video is to allow the judges to evaluate each team's performance. We are pleased to announce that teams who aspire to raise the standards may choose to amend their dance routine & music at the finals of the competition.

Results of Dance Competition (Preliminary Round)
Eleven teams submitted their video for the dance competition. From this, 10 teams has been chosen for the finals in Pesta Penang 2010, they are:

Judges for Dance Competition

The organizers have full confidence in the judges' ability to ensure a fair competition is carried out. The appointed judges will refrain from providing advice, assistance to competing teams in a manner which discredits the integrity of the competition.
NO company should engage the service of these judges from now until the competition ended. Competing teams need to inform organizers should any of the judges have vested interest in any of the participating teams.

Profile of judges

Joel Tan
Joel founded Malaysia's pioneer urban and street dance academy "Urban Groove" in 2004. Being one of the first few Malaysians accredited to teach Street Dance from the United Kingdom Alliance, Joel specializes in Hip Hop and Street Dances. Prior to founding "Urban Groove", Joel has been active in the teaching, performance and competition scene since 1999. Joel serves as the Youth Network Head of the Christian Dance Fellowship Malaysia (CDFM) and is the 1st Malaysian Instructor to be invited to teach and perform at the annual Hillsong Conference in Sydney.
With several awards under his belt, Joel has also been making TV appearances on ASTRO, TV3 and RTM. He has also choreographed dances for television, music videos and events.
Kerry Chan
Kerry Chan is the Head of 'The Dance Department' at "The Center" in Penang. A graduate from Wichita State University in Journalism with a minor in Dance and Performing Arts, Kerry launched her career as Instructor and Choreographer in 2006. A regular performer at numerous events, Kerry majors in Lyrical Jazz, Hip Hop, Contemporary, and Street Jazz. With her unquenchable passion in dance, Kerry's vision for Malaysia is to see the coming of a new generation of dancers as one, expressing and voicing their hearts through dance and performing arts.
  Ice
Ice is from a Butterworth-based "Hundred Percent Dance Studio". The talented group emerged 2nd Runner up in the Astro "Battle Ground" Season 2 dance competition.

 

Dancing Competition - Details as at Apr 15, 2010

  1. Please submit videos in VCD / DVD format – this should be playable on common VCD/DVD players.
  2. Participating teams need to submit 3 copies of pre-recorded VCD/DVDs to the organizing committee on or before May 1, 2010.
  3. It is the onus of each company’s OIC to notify the organizing team via pesta@bbpinang.org upon sending of parcel. Please provide a scanned copy of the Airway Bill (AWB) for reference. Please use the following format:

  4. All VCD/DVDs are to be sent to the address below:

    Attn: Pesta 2010 Dancing Competition.
    Ayer Itam Chinese Methodist Church
    Jalan Paya Terubong,
    11500 Ayer Itam, Pulau Pinang.
  5. Please refrain from writing or applying labels on the VCD/DVD. A legibly filled “Disc Submission Form” should suffice.
  6. The Organizing committee will confirm receipt of your parcels within 24 hours. Please contact pesta@bbpinang.org if acknowledgement is not received beyond 24 hours of expected arrival date.
  7. Videos submitted should not be edited and must be taken only in a single camera and angle in stationery position (no zooming / panning) 8. Additional points will not be given for costumes in the Preliminary Round.
