Many of you
are excited about the coming Pesta and cannot wait to start practicing for the
various competitions. Here's some news for you......
A syllabus will be provided soon. This syllabus will cover the competition. There is no fixed sequence. The idea is not to memorise the sequence but rather to master the movements. At the actual competition, the commander will be given a sequence (there will be six different sequence), he has an option whether to memorise the sequence. The whole idea is to test on how good the drill squad is in terms of their teamwork and their drill movement. This new format will definitely have a real test on a squad and not so much on memory work.

will be two categories, flute & bugle and mixed band. In order for each
category to carry on, there must be at least 3 teams taking part. If that category
do not have a minimum number by the dateline, the organizers will allow the
company to switch category or withdraw.

The criteria for the Overall Pesta Champion will take into consideration three main factors:
Attendance (10%) |
This takes into consideration the attendance (A) at Pesta compared to your coy statistics (B) and also where is your company located (C or Weight). Average Weightage = ( A / B ) x C C or the Weight is given based on where your coy is located and where the Pesta is held. The further you are from the Pesta location, the more Weight is given. (refer to Weight Chart) After which, the company with the highest Average Weightage will be given certain points. (refer to Winners Table) |
Participation
in competitions (20%) |
For every competition that the company compete, 10 points will be awarded. |
Results
of the competitions (70%) |
Besides the competitions, the State March Past will also be given points to all the coys in the state. Points will be given according to their position. (refer to Winners Table and State March Past Table) |

Eg. 100th Penang Company
50 members attending Pesta. The company statistics is 100 members. The Pesta is held in Kota Kinabalu.
Weightage Average = (50 / 100) X 4 = 2
Say, compared to all the companies, 100th Penang is placed 3rd, therefore it will have 12 pts or 6% for Attendance
Let's say 100th Penang registered for Band & Drill competitions, she will then receive 20 pts or 13.33% for Participation
Let's just say that 100th Penang became champion for Drill and third for Band and the state had the best march past, she will then receive 20+12+10 pts or 42% for Competitions.
Overall, 100th Penang will receive 61.33%
