Rationale
1.1 To provide systematic and standardized guidelines of initiating new companies for the attainment of the BB Object
1.2 To define the roles and responsibilities of each level of BB hierarchy namely the Brigade, State, Sub-Region and Company level on the support and follow up processes beginning from the pre-formation to post formation of a new company.
1.3 To optimize the use of various extension resources which consist of starter kit, manpower support and finances.

Scope
This policy covers the following levels of hierarchy :
  • Brigade Level
  • State Level
  • Sub-Region Level
  • Company Level

Objectives
3.1 To provide a recommended guide on how to form a new company.
3.2 To develop extension resources at BBM HQ and States level.
3.3 To review and continuously improve the processes of the extension work.
3.4 To regulate the registration of BB companies.

Philosophy
Extension is the responsibility of every BB member and every member is committed to promote and to share the BB and its ministry.

Extension Structure & Roles
5.1 Brigade Level
a) Development of extension resources e.g. starter kit, handbook, manual, brochures, posters etc.
b) Development of extension related training curriculum.
c) To provide extension related resource funding. The resources are given free of charge to the States, Sub-Regions and Companies upon request.
d) To plan Long Term (3 year) Brigade Extension Strategic Plan & Promotion
e) To provide administrative support and advice on extension and training to the States, Sub-Regions and Companies.
5.2 State Level (can be shared with the Sub-Region level)
a) To plan State Annual Extension Strategy & Program
b) To plan annual promotion drives to churches, schools, institution of higher learning and Christian organization.
c) To provide logistics funding for the appointed personnel involve in extension work.
d) To organize and to conduct compulsory extension related training (Basic Officers Training Course) for personnel of the proposed new BB Company.
e) To delegate promotion, support and follow up tasks to the Sub-Region or existing BB Company on the setting up of a new BB Company.
f) To look for a church or Christian organization to assume the role as sponsoring authority or an existing BB Company in the event when there is a school wish to form a BB Company or a BB platoon.
g) To assign an existing BB Company to adopt a newly formed BB Company for one year.
h) The State Commissioner shall submit extension progress report to the Brigade Extension Chairman at every Brigade Exco meeting.
5.3 Company Level
a) The Company can assume the role to promote BB.
b) To provide support, advice and follow up on a newly formed BB Company.
c) To provide an in-house training and networking between officers of an existing BB Company and a newly formed BB Company.
d) To ensure that the philosophy and methodology of the BB are being implemented by the new Company.

Brigade Extension Committee
6.1 The role of this committee is to establish policies and guidelines and shall consist of the Brigade Secretary and representatives from BB and non BB appointed with the approval of the Brigade Extension Chairman. The Brigade President and Brigade Vice-Presidents are the ex-officio of this committee.

6.2 The Committee shall meet at least once a year to map the who year extension program and to review policies as required.

State Extension Committee
7.1 The State Extension Chairman is appointed by the State Commissioner.

7.2 The State Extension Chairman shall head the State Extension Committee and shall consist of representatives from BB and non BB appointed with the approval of the State Commissioner. The Brigade Secretary, Brigade Extension Chairman and the State Commissioner are the ex-officio of this committee.

7.3 The role of this committee has been laid down on No. 5.2 above.

Extension Budget
8.1 An Annual Brigade Extension Grant shall be allocated for No. 5.1 above.
8.2 The State is responsible logistics funding logistics either by the appointed personnel from the State Exco or the Sub-Region personnel or appointed Company officers.

Extension Manual
9.1 The Extension Manual which provides guidelines on how to start a new BB Company is available upon request from the BBM HQ. The manual provide useful information on procedures and prerequisite of starting a BB Company and various documentation needed for submission to the Brigade level and the Registrar of Societies for approval purposes.
