Definition
The Brigade Award is the highest award that a member can achieved in The Boys' Brigade in Malaysia. This award is a Brigade level award which is awarded with the approval and endorsement of the Brigade Executive Council which is the highest executive body of The Boys' Brigade in Malaysia.

Objective
The objective of the Brigade Award is to recognise the highest achievement and recognition accorded to members of the Boys' Brigade in Malaysia for their dedicated service and contribution towards the Organisation.

Types of Brigade Awards
The current Brigade Awards consist of the following :
a) Junior Section - Gold Award
b) Senior Section - President's Award
- Founder's Award
c) Primers Section - Robert Davis Award
d) Officers Section - Bronze Service Medal
- Silver Service Medal
- Gold Service Medal

Application Procedures
The Application form is obtainable from the Company Captain or from the Brigade HQ.

a) Gold Award

  • A fully completed application form shall be submitted to the Brigade HQ before closing date of registration which will be informed to the Captain by letter and the BBM Circular annually.
  • Brigade HQ shall send the Gold Award Assessment Paper to the Captain.
  • Assessment must be conducted and recorded and subsequently return to the Brigade HQ before the stipulated deadline for submission.
  • The assessment shall be reviewed and tabulated by the Brigade Pre-Junior & Junior Section Award Committee under the Chairmanship of the Brigade Pre-Junior & Junior Section Chairman.
  • The result shall be announced in the BBM Circular, Berita Anchor magazine and other official correspendence to the Company Captain.

b) President Award

  • A fully completed and signed application form shall be submitted to the Brigade HQ at least seven (7) days prior to the Brigade Executive Meeting.
  • The Brigade Secretary will assess the applicant's qualification and then recommend to the Brigade Exco for the award.
  • The Brigade Exco will endorse based on the recommendation of the Brigade Senior Section Chairman/Brigade Awards Chairman and the Brigade Secretary.

c) Founder's Award

  • The Captain will write an official letter to inform the Brigade Senior Section Chairman/Brigade Awards Chairman on the intention of the applicant to pursue the award. The letter is to be directed to the Brigade HQ.
  • The Brigade Senior Section Chairman/Brigade Awards Chairman will officially reply the Captain informing him/her the approval/rejection after verifying the applicant's qualification.
  • Upon granting approval, the applicant will consult the Brigade Secretary or an assigned personnel by the Brigade Secretary on the commencement of the project work and assignment towards fulfilling the award.
  • Upon completing the requirements laid down, the Captain must complete a full report on the applicant's work and progress throughout the period and recommend the applicant for the Award.
  • The applicant will then attend a 2 Days 1 Night Founder's Induction Camp conducted at the Brigade Level for final assessment. The venue of the induction camp shall be determined at the Brigade level. (an alternative would be carried out if the Induction Camp is not possible)
  • The Brigade Secretary will then recommend to the Brigade Exco for the award.
  • The Brigade Exco will endorse based on the recommendation of the Brigade Senior Section Chairman and the Brigade Secretary.

*The Brigade Exco can withhold the award if the Applicant's Company is found not complying with the "The Boys' Brigade in Malaysia By-Laws" and / or any Brigade Policies enforced by the Brigade Exco although Applicant may have met all the prerequisite.

*The Brigade Exco will release the award to the Applicant after the Company has fully complied with "The Boys' Brigade in Malaysia By-Laws and / or any Brigade Policies enforced by the Brigade Exco.

d) Officer Service Medal (Bronze, Silver & Gold)

  • A fully completed and signed application form would be submitted to the Brigade HQ at least seven (7) days prior to the Brigade Executive Meeting.
  • An official recommendation letter from the Chaplain must be accompanied with the application form.
  • The Brigade Secretary shall process the application and present it to the Brigade Exco / President's Committee for decision.
  • The Company Captain will be notified of the result by the Brigade President.

Presentation of Brigade Awards

a) The result of the application will be announced at the official BBM Circular, Berita Anchor magazine and through letter of official notification to the Captain. The awards must be presented at a proper ceremony at any one of the following functions by order of priority :

  • BB Malaysia - Brigade level Functions or at any the highest Brigade Function e.g. Pesta, Camps, National Council Meeting, at the office of the Brigade Patron etc.
  • State Level Function e.g. Founder's Day, District Events, at the office of the District Patron etc.
